THE ASHLAND POLICE DIVISION RECEIVES STATE FUNDING FOR OFFICER WELLNESS PROGRAM
On December 13, 2022, Governor Mike DeWine announced the fifth round of funding to Ohio’s first responders to support wellness and staffing issues.
The Ohio First Responder Recruitment, Retention and Resilience Program is designed to target understaffing and prioritize employee wellness through the American Rescue Plan Act.
The Ashland Police Division was awarded $24,850.00 to assist in implementing an employee wellness program. With the grant money provided, the new program will provide clinical visits, training and access to overall wellness resources through the Cordico Wellness App.
Cordico is a mobile application for first responders that can be customized to fit the needs of any public safety organization. The benefits include confidential, 24/7 support to help with job stress, coping strategies, physical fitness goals and nutrition tips at the touch of a button.
Public safety personnel encounter many circumstances that take a toll on their emotional health. We must provide them with the right tools, and continual training, in order for them to build resiliency to withstand and recover successfully from the difficulties they face daily. By investing in their overall well-being, we are sending the message that they are one of the most valuable assets in the communities they serve.
