Medina County Drowning
The Medina County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Medina County Park District Police, Westfield EMS, Lafayette EMS, and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources responded to a call for emergency assistance at Chippewa Lake at approximately 7:10 p.m. on October 24, 2022.
A boater approached the dock and spotted the victim, Matthew Trowbridge, 32, of Apple Creek, lodged between his 14’ aluminum boat and trailer.
It is believed the victim was attempting to load the boat when he slipped and fell between the two and was unable to free himself.
Westfield EMS responded and performed life saving measures, while enroute to the hospital.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Alcohol or foul play are not suspected.
