State Rep. Melanie Miller | The Ohio House of Representatives
State Representative Melanie Miller, representing the 67th House District, commemorated the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War by honoring a group of Vietnam veterans. The recognition took place during a session at the Statehouse, where the veterans received a standing ovation from all representatives in attendance.
The honored veterans, Greg Gorrell, Robert DeSanto, Jack Cadley, Jack Colvin, and Brooks Whitmore, were presented with a commendation by Miller for their service, courage, and sacrifice. Miller spoke about the challenges faced by Vietnam veterans upon their return to the United States. "This generation of soldiers suffered terrible loses, not only on the battlefield, but also when they returned home," said Miller. "They faced a country that didn’t appreciate their sacrifices or service protecting our nation. It is only appropriate that we honor these brave men for what they have endured abroad and here in United States. It was my honor to play a part in recognizing them for their service."
