State Representative Melanie Miller from Ashland has been appointed as the Chair of the Arts, Athletics & Tourism Committee for Ohio's 136th General Assembly. The appointment was made by Ohio House Speaker Matt Huffman from Lima.
Miller expressed her enthusiasm about the role, stating, “Ohio has world class theaters, state-of-the-art athletic facilities, one-of-a-kind amusement parks and museums, and other incredible educational and entertainment venues for both our own people and other visitors to experience and enjoy,” she said. “And we need to be sure that as a state we are utilizing these unique amenities in the best possible way to grow our state’s and local communities’ economies. After all, Ohio is the ‘Heart of it All,’ and this is our time to shine!”
In addition to her new chair position, Miller will also serve on several other committees: Health Committee, Technology & Innovation Committee, and Children & Human Services Committee. She remarked on her involvement with these groups by saying, “I am excited to be a part of these committees as we highlight what makes Ohio a great place to live, work and raise a family,” adding further that she is optimistic about the ideas these groups will bring forward.
