State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) has announced an important information session for seniors in Ohio. The Ohio Department of Insurance (ODI) and the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) will be hosting a free virtual town hall on Thursday, October 12th, at 11:30 a.m. The purpose of the town hall is to assist Ohioans on Medicare in preparing for the upcoming Medicare open enrollment period, specifically addressing the important changes to Medicare in 2024.
Rep. Miranda expressed her support for the event, stating, "I wanted to highlight the great work that ODI and OSHIIP are doing for our seniors. I think there is a lot of misinformation out there and this is a great opportunity to get accurate information from a trusted source. Navigating the Medicare process can be challenging, and I hope this town hall will help make it easier."
The town hall will cover various topics, including Medicare changes for 2024, how to compare options and select coverage, money-saving tips, and tips to avoid Medicare fraud. Seniors who are interested in participating can register for the town hall by visiting insurance.ohio.gov.
In addition to the virtual town hall, OSHIIP is also organizing Medicare Checkup events across the state to provide assistance to Ohioans on Medicare in evaluating coverage options that best suit their healthcare needs and budget. Two events will be held in District 28: one at the Springdale Parks & Recreation Community Center on October 30th at 10:00 am, and the other at the Sharonville Community Center on October 31st at 10:00 am.
For those interested in participating in the Medicare Checkup events, counseling will be available by appointment only. To schedule an appointment for the Springdale event, call 513-346-3910. For the Sharonville event, call 513-563-2895. Alternatively, individuals can reach out to OSHIIP staff at 800-686-1578 or oshiipmail@insurance.ohio.gov for further assistance.
These initiatives by ODI and OSHIIP aim to provide accurate and reliable information to Ohio's senior citizens, helping them navigate the Medicare process and make informed decisions about their healthcare coverage. With the upcoming Medicare open enrollment period, it is crucial for seniors to be well-informed and aware of the changes and options available to them. These events and resources serve as valuable tools in ensuring that Ohio's senior citizens receive the support they need for their Medicare needs.
