Highway Patrol Investigating Fatal Crash

Sandusky- The Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal traffic crash which occurred on Meigs St at First St in the City of Sandusky, Erie County. 

On November 23, 2022 at approximately 10:21 A.M., a 1991 Ford F-250, driven by 55 year old Roger Ward of Sandusky, Ohio, was eastbound on Meigs St at First St. Mr. Ward drove off the left side of the road and struck the side of a building. The vehicle came to rest along the building and Mr. Ward was pronounced deceased at the scene. Richard Ward of Sandusky, Ohio, who was the front seat passenger was also pronounced deceased at the scene.

Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drug use is unknown and the crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Sandusky Police Department, Sandusky Fire Department, Sandusky Street Department, Perkins Township Fire Department, Erie County Coroner’s Office, and Galloway Towing.
