FOLLOW UP: House Explosion on Prospect Street That Sent One to Hospital

If you remember back in May of 2022 when the Ashland Fire Department & EMS, Savanah Fire Department, Jeromesville Fire Department, and Ashland Police Division responded to a House explosion on Prospect Street.

Ashland Grand Jury returned an indictment against the homeowner for that explosion

Jury Trial is scheduled to start 12/13/2022 at 8:30 AM before Judge Forsthoefel at the Ashland Court of Common Pleas

Sub-rosa Indictment Reads as Follows:

Of the 3rd Partial in the year two thousand twenty-two

THE JURORS OF THE GRAND JURY OF THE State of Ohio, within and for the body of the County aforesaid, on their oaths, in the name and by the authority of the State of Ohio, do find and present that SHAWNA DAVIS (IA: Ashland Police Department) did:

COUNT ONE: ARSON (Section 2909.03(A)(1), 2909.03(D)(2)(B) of the Ohio Revised Code), a felony of the fourth degree.

In that on or about May 29, 2022, in Ashland County, Ohio, SHAWNA DAVIS did by means of fire or explosion knowingly cause or create a substantial risk of physical harm to property of Jessica Weber and/or Misty Weber, to wit: 300 prospect Street, Ashland, Ohio, without their consent, in violation of Ohio Revised Code Section 2909.03(A)(1 ), 2909.03(D)(2)(b), ARSON, a felony of the fourth degree.

FURTHERMORE, the value of the property or the amount of the physical harm involved was one thousand dollars or more.

COUNT TWO: ARSON (Section 2909.03(A)(1), 2909.03(D)(2)(B) of the Ohio Revised Code), a felony of the fourth degree.

In that on or about May 29, 2022, in Ashland County, Ohio, SHAWNA DAVIS did by means of fire or explosion knowingly cause or create a substantial risk of physical harm to property of Chad Butts, to wit: 310 Prospect Street, Ashland, Ohio, without his consent, in violation of Ohio Revised Code Section 2909.03(A)(1 ), 2909.03(D)(2)(b), ARSON, a felony of the fourth degree.

FURTHERMORE, the value of the property or the amount of the physical harm involved was one thousand dollars or more.

and against the peace and dignity of the State of Ohio.
