Fatal Crash on Hanley Road
Richland County, Troy Township – The Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle fatal crash. The fatal crash occurred on September 24, 2022, around 10:14 PM on West Hanley Road near Ellen Avenue.
Frank E. Pointer, age 68, of Mansfield, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound on Hanley Road. Mr. Pointer drifted left of center and attempted to correct and lost control and traveled off the right side of the roadway striking several mailboxes, a traffic sign, and struck a large tree head-on.
Mr. Pointer was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Mr. Pointer was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital by Springfield Township EMS where he was pronounced deceased.
The Mansfield Post was assisted by Springfield Township Fire and Valley Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
