SMILES ALL AROUND

This morning, the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Team brought smiles to the faces of those in attendance, along with shouts of joy, as the demonstration started for DR Services Inc., located at 1256 Center Street.

One little lovely lady, who is known to flirt, was taken with the deputies and was quite happy to have her pictures taken with them, and especially with the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, K-9 Team Leader, Rick Kinter, which brought cheers from her peers & staff.

Curtis, who is blind, still enjoyed the demonstration with the help of a staff member explaining what was happing. He was able to feel the K-9s and Deputy Hall put on the sleeve that they wear to protect them from the bite. He enjoyed the feel of the sleeve as Deputy Hall squeezed it simulating a bite from the K-9.

A big hit this morning, was when Sgt. Neff handed out the K-9 Trading cards, a few wanted their pictures taken while holding the cards.

DR Services Inc., Program Services Manager, Kimberly Williams said, “We are a day program for adults with disabilities in Ashland County. We have amazing staff that dedicate their days in creating safe, exciting, fun filled, activities, events, and outings to meet their daily goals. I would like to thank Ashely Brinker for setting the appointment with the Ashland County K-9 Unit, to come and give us a demonstration of the deputies and their K-9s.”

Kimberly continued, “We had a wonderful experience learning about the country where the K-9s were born, and the training, commands, and language that they understand. The officers covered so much important information, that we were not aware of. The officers were very polite and answered many questions for us. We appreciate that they took extra time out of their busy schedule to talk with us, do demonstrations, and allow us to take photos with them.”

Kimberly concluded, “Today was AMAZING!  Everyone left with wonderful smiles on their faces and lots to talk about later in their groups.”

Team Leader Rick Kinter said, “Our team is extremely lucky to be able to reach out and be a part of the community. It is amazing to be able to share our dogs and answer questions with the people of DR Services.”
