Bill Harris Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Dealership Says Thanks to Ashland Police Division

I had a chance to speak with Aaron Harris & Scott Harris about the break-in on May 12th, at Bill Harris Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Dealership, located at 2100 South Baney Road.

That break-in resulted in the dealership losing two vehicles right off the showroom floor. One was a 2022 Dodge Challenger; the other was a 2022 Jeep Cherokee. As you can see in the video, just released to Ashland County Pictures, the 2022 Jeep Cherokee was used to ram its way through the large glass doorway, with the 2022 Dodge Challenger following shortly after.

Within one minute of the alarm company notifying Police Dispatch (WARCOG), the first Ashland Police Division Officer, Patrolman Mason Birkbeck arrives on scene. With Lights blacked out, he arrived at the parking lot. Seeing the glass broken out of the front of the show room, Patrolman Birkbeck grabs his rifle, and sets up a defensive position while calling for back-up.

With around 16 other dealerships in Ohio also hit this year, Ashland has the fastest response time so far, both Aaron Harris & Scott Harris were quick to praise the response time of the Ashland Police Division Officers.

Although all the videos could not be released at this time, Scott Harris spoke of the professionalism of Patrolman Mason Birkbeck. This officer arrives in one minute and sees the broken glass, and immediately takes up a tactical position, not knowing if anyone was still in the business.

Aaron Harris said, “We’d like to thank the brave men & women at the Ashland Police Department, for their prompt response and assistance in our thefts. While the events are unfortunate, it is a good reminder of how fortunate we are to be in Ashland.”

Aaron Harris went on to speak about the Ohio Highway Patrol locating the 2022 Jeep Cherokee on I-71, and pursuing it until it crashed in Columbus, Ohio. “We would also like to thank the Ohio State Patrol, and their troopers, for their professionalism and persistence to in catching those responsible. We are thankful that no one was injured, and we are confident those responsible will be held accountable,” Commented Aaron Harris.

Troopers arrested DeAnthony Harris, 18, of Reynoldsburg, and transported him back to the Richland County Jail, on a charge of failure to comply with the order of a police officer, with other charges pending.

*** Correction ***

Patrolman Mason Birkbeck was first on scene, not Sgt. Lee Eggeman. I’m sorry for the mix-up and stand corrected.
